How to care for your Silver Jewellery?
Your Jewellery is made of silver, a beautiful metal that will last for generations with proper care. You don’t need to polish silver often, just once in a few months would suffice. If you wear a particular silver item regularly, you’ll find it will tarnish faster than the ones kept in your cabinet.
To prevent tarnish, follow these tips:
- Keep each of your silver items in separate zip-lock bags.
- Keep your silver in a box with moisture absorbers like silica gel.
- Wrap your silver pieces in velvet or microfiber cloth before keeping them in a box.
- Remove your silver Jewellery before showering or swimming.
- Avoid exposure to excess moisture as much as possible.
- Always remove your Jewellery before using any product that contains bleach, ammonia, alcohol or other chemicals.
- Keep it separately from your other accessories to avoid silver Jewellery getting scratched.
Tips to clean the Jewellery
- After every use clean your Jewellery with a soft cloth to remove the oil and grime that would have stuck to it
- Dampen a cloth in lukewarm water, add a bit of mild soap and rub your Jewellery gently. Rinse with clean water, pat dry with a soft cloth.
- Store-bought cleaners are available in the market that do the job quite well. All you need to do is use a soft-bristled toothbrush or microfibre cloth and apply the paste as directed by the manufacturer.
- Use regular toothpaste mixed with a bit of water and brush it onto the silver Jewellery to bring back some shine.
